Conversations in Climate-ish
Towards the Climate Summit in Glasgow - 5 June World Environment Day Exclusive
June 4th, Friday, 14.00 TRT (GMT +3)
UNDP Turkey and the British Embassy invite you to the exclusive online event to discuss and comment on the climate crisis, suggesting a new language to think and talk: Climate-ish.
This online Conversation in Climate-ish event that will be moderated by UNDP Turkey Goodwill Ambassador Mert Fırat, with the participation of UNDP Turkey and British Embassy encourages the public to think Climate-ish one day before the June 5 World Environment Day. The event will remark the issues that the COP26 summit will raise in Glasgow on 1st – 12th November 2021. The COP26 summit aims to bring parties together to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement. Our event will touch the goals of COP26, securing global net zero by mid-century and keep 1.5 degrees within reach, adapting to protect communities and natural habitats, mobilising finance, and working together to deliver. Further, the parties will illustrate the importance of the World Environment Day, flagship day of the United Nations for promoting worldwide awareness and action for the environment. The United Nations General Assembly has declared the years 2021 through 2030 the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration. This theme, Ecosystem Restoration, will be covered by the representatives of UNDP Turkey and the British Embassy to chart ways to prevent, halt, and reverse the loss and degradation of ecosystems worldwide.
UNDP Goodwill Ambassador Mert Fırat will host the online event, and the British Ambassador Sir Dominick Chilcott KCMG and UNDP Turkey Resident Representative Louisa Vinton will participate in the online event as speakers. Together, we will project our future in a Climate-ish perspective and search for options that bring Climate-ish solutions.
